“Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

a true renaissance man

Matt has been using his artistic abilities since he was a young boy growing up in Franklin, Kentucky. He grew up there and has always had an artists eye and abilities to create naturally and without any training.

Matt has contributed to the art world through numerous media including, but not limited to the following.

  • Wood Sculptures

  • Wood Carving

  • Fictional Writing

  • Biographical Writing

  • Watercolor Paintings (BTW, he’s colorblind!!!)

  • Wood Turning

  • Hand Sketches

  • Singing

  • Voice Narrations

  • Culinary

  • Holiday Creations

Born and raised in the Bluegrass State, he joined the navy and went off to serve his country. After serving 3 years in a photo recon squadron he was honorably discharged.  He spent the next 30 years with Greyhound bus lines working his way through advancements until reaching the Marketing Department.  Travel was not as much fun as he thought.  The urge for being in the public’s eye was satisfied as he did radio and television programs.  A voice over was used in the Worlds Fair in New Orleans along with a video tape as a square dance caller.

Having served on Jacksonville’s crisis center hot line he followed up as the face of the center on television and the voice on radio doing public service announcements.  His continual call towards entertainment led him to provide narrations as voice and lead narration characters on stage for three plays at the convention center in Daytona Beach.

Due to a knee injury at work he was forced into early retirement but returned to college in the mid 80’s to get his degree in computer science and became a programmer/analyst.  Having the desire and drive for teaching, he held a position teaching computer programming and operations at the school system. He then spent nine years teaching software and developing a proprietary software that he maintained. Computers was the creative outlet for Matt for a long time.

All during this time he kept up a hidden love of writing.  He has written a number of books and short stories which are shared in this site. This includes 30 short bedtime stories plus an uncounted number of fun fictional short stories.  This continues even today with the recent foray into the cookbook arena.

Matt is married to his beautiful bride of 40 years, Linda (he calls Babe). In addition to his three hound dogs, he has a son, daughter, step daughter, and six grandchildren.

His studio resides in Jacksonville, Florida, where he has lived for most of his adult life.

The talent that has followed him all his life continues on.
